Mastering the last mile has become one of the great logistical challenges. This is the process of the entire e-commerce logistics chain that is more expensive, inefficient and has a greater environmental impact. Challenges such as incorporating sustainability, minimizing failed deliveries, reducing time or optimizing delivery points are scrambling the sector. To respond to these new challenges, it is necessary to have the talent, agility and flexibility that start-ups provide, which are increasingly important in the development of the sector.
Examples of initiatives that the start-ups are carrying out are the intelligent mailboxes that allow users to receive their packages at home or in the office without needing to be present at the moment the messenger arrives, the applications to optimize the routes and improve delivery schedules that employ advanced analysis and big data functionalities or vehicle proposals adapted to urban environments that minimize environmental impact.
Aware of the importance of the entrepreneurial universe, the Delivery exhibition delves into the field of new business opportunities where start-ups are the protagonists. New talent is emerging to meet the needs. Therefore, the Consorci de la Zona Franca has a start-up acceleration program that, in addition to strengthening new knowledge, seeks to put entrepreneurs in contact with large companies. This acceleration program is being promoted jointly between the Consorci de la Zona Franca and La Salle Bonanova. It is a way to unite economic opportunities, talent and the world of university and education.
Specifically, thanks to this program, participating start-ups have been able to meet the organizational and service delivery challenges that the large consolidated companies -accustomed to working in more physical (non-digital) and delimited environments- are facing. They have also been prepared to meet up with investors. On the other hand, consolidated companies have allowed them to become aware of the digital strategies and services that allow them to optimize the final distribution of their products and learn about projects that are already providing solutions to the different challenges they are facing in their environment.
On the other hand, the eDelivery Start-up Innovation Hub constitutes a unique meeting point between large companies, potential partners, investors and those innovative solutions that are radically changing the sector, in both retail and wholesale channels.
